Emerging Health Information Technology, a subsidiary of Montefiore Medical Center (MMC), was formed in 2001 with the mission to help improve the quality of patient care by providing small to mid-size healthcare organization with access to information technology and professional services. Originating as the internal IT department of MMC, Emerging Health's roots were firmly planted as part of the Montefiore mission to bring state-of-the-art technology to the Medical Center. Many of the founding associates of Emerging Health were responsible for deploying MMC's clinical information systems, document imaging, advanced radiology, cardiology and laboratory information systems, electronic prescribing and more. With the strength of this pedigree, Emerging Health would go on to provide invaluable assistance to other healthcare organizations.

To prepare for the transformation to an outside consultancy, the Company moved to an executive park in Yonkers, New York. Investing $25 million in technology and infrastructure, this new location would be home to 300+ employees, a state-of-the-art NASA-style network operations center and a world-class data management center. The firm's first client, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, contracted with Emerging Health to implement a computer physician order entry system. Emerging Health completed the assignment in a record-breaking five years, and saved the client over $5 million.  Before long, the Company was attracting healthcare organization from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and had expanded its offerings to include revenue cycle services for long term care facilities and infrastructure support for remote network monitoring. 

With such a strong background in electronic medical record technology, EDI, networking, HIPAA compliance and systems interoperability, it easily followed that in 2006, Emerging Health was selected as the implementation firm and project management office to design and support the 12-member hospital network that would become the Bronx Regional Health Organization.
